Sailability Forum UK: new forum reply to Medical Information

New reply from Simon Whiteley

We ask for (but do not insist on) some information, but more for demographic purposes. So we ask if they have a disability, and to select from a standard list of impairments, and to tell us of any medical conditions we should be aware of. We do not collect it for groups because we reckon the carers, teachers etc will tell us anything we need to know. Not a very consistent approach I know.

Medical Information

I would be interested to know if other centres request medical information about potential clients. In particular do you ask sailors who are coming to you independently for information…and if so, how much information, how do you keep it and how do you make use of it at normal sailing sessions?
